Racial Covenants in Stearns County
The following three-part docuseries, created by Honors students at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University, provides an engaging look at how racial covenants and other practices of legal segregation impacted St. Cloud and surrounding communities in Stearns County during the 1900s. The effects of these discriminatory practices continue to be felt today. Learning about the history of racial covenants is a first step in acknowledging past injustices in order to address ongoing inequities and promote a vibrant community.
